"A group of 28 women, all 50 and older, met Tuesday afternoon in Santa Fe to talk about what 'home' menat to them and what steps they've personally taken to find that home.
They are working to start a local chapter of The Transition Network, a national organization aimed at creating new support communities for professional women, middle-aged and older, who are losing the connections they built while pursuing careers and raising the families.
"Laughter and occasional tears -- as well as a phone call reminding one woman to take her thyroid pill -- marked the two-hour session during which they discussed a range of topics, including local author Pat Shapiro's book Coming Home to Yourself: Eighteen Wise Women Reflect on Their Journeys."
